Programs

Our programs reflect the mission of the NCNW North Shore Section⸺empowering women, uplifting families, and strengthening communities through education, health and advocacy.

Community Fridge Fridays

Every Friday, the North Shore Section of NCNW partners with Chef Nicole (Chicky) of Chicky’s Kitchen to rescue perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste. Chef Nicole packages fresh, unserved meals, which our volunteers then deliver to local Community Fridges across Evanston.
This program began after we donated all leftover food from our June 2024 Charter Celebration—also catered by Chicky—to the fridges. Witnessing the immediate impact sparked this ongoing commitment.

Healing with Dignity

Healing with Dignity is our care-centered drive to collect new hair care products designed for textured hair and makeup items created for deeper skin tones. These culturally responsive personal care products are often missing from traditional donation efforts.

All collected items are donated to the YWCA and WINGS, both of which support women healing from domestic violence and housing insecurity.

Voices of Impact

A civic engagement program designed to amplify the voices of our communities in policy and advocacy. Through forums, voter education, and community organizing, it empowers participants to lead social change and address issues affecting their communities.
